Mr. Mohamed Mahdi Akef- the Muslim Brotherhood Chairman- sent on Monday 4/12/2006, letter to the Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, to congratulate him on winning the last presidential elections .

"It is a pleasure to congratulate you- in the name of the Muslim Brotherhood group- on your great victory in the presidential elections and wining the support of most Venezuelan people". Akef said in the letter.

The MB chairman added that:" Egypt and the Islamic world appreciate your brave attitudes in supporting the Arab and Islamic Nation issues, topped by the Palestinian cause, the Lebanese issue and the Iraqi issue, and your facing the US tyranny and attempts to control the world; we hope that those attitudes continue during your second presidential term.

It is worth noting that the Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez (52 years) has declared his victory in the presidential elections held on Sunday, shortly after announcing semi-official results for the elections, that showed that he got 61 % votes against 38 % for his rival, Manuel Rosales, who conceded his defeat.
