MB Parliamentarians: Gov’t  Adopts Same Tough Method against MB With Sinai Bedouins

Although Sinai as a very important part of the Egyptian national security, but the Egyptian regime’s way of dealing with this serious file reveals its dilemma and futile policy towards crucial issues. The security grip is the only available policy adopted by the Egyptian regime.

The option of using force has become the only policy that the authoritarian regime uses against both opposition and even its supporters.

This crisis has been clearly shown in the Egyptian security services while dealing with Sinai Bedouins whose problems have started to surface without actual attitudes from the Egyptian government to solve this problem which is actually putting the Egyptian national security at the stakes.

Saaduddin Mohamed Khalifa Saad, the Muslim Brotherhood MP for the governorate of Suez , told Ikhwanweb that:" The Bedouins issue and their daily problems have become a thorny problem. It is well-known that Sinai is a very serious topic in the Egyptian national security file. The government is actually giving a blind eye to both northern and southern Sinai. The government is supposed to carry out a very fast reconstruction process to Sinai region in order to have a strategic depth for the Egyptian national security. I have called for this in an urgen statement lodged to the Committee of Foreign Affairs. This urgent statement covered also the issue of the infiltration of 37 Sudanese to the Palestinian territories through Rafah crossing and that the occupation forces welcomed them and gave them all services and facilities and gave them access to the occupied territories.

"Therefore, we must populate Sinai and deal with Sinai Bedouins with full respect because they are Arabs, Muslims, and Egyptians. They must receive a good treatment because they were fully marginalized before 1973 war. Sinai was at that time considered isolated from the Arab Republic of Egypt and was entered with permits. As for now, it has become an important part of the Arab Republic of Egypt and must receive a due care. The government deals with the Sinai Bedouins exactly like its treatment with the Muslim Brotherhood, through using the security grip. It keeps a security file for the Bedouins. This is actually a grave mistake" added Khalifa.

Khalifa added that the problems of Sinai Bedouins must be solved. The government must solve their social problems, including unemployment and reconstruction and all other problems facing them, because they are a safety valve for the homeland. Some Bedouins, not all, are dealing with Israel and the Zionist entity. These Sudanese who have been smuggled into Israel infiltrated through help of some Bedouins. Not  all Sinai Bedouins are betraying they country and co-operating with the occupations. Most of them are good Egyptian citizens who should receive a good treatment."

Asked about the MPs role in this issue, Khalifa said:" The far distance between Sinai and the Nile valley may a key reason for the MPs’ inadequate treatment with this serious file. Anyway, we tried to give solutions through the urgent statement about the Sudanese who infiltrated to occupied territories. We highlighted the point of populating and reconstructing Sinai. I have carried out several field visits to South Sinai and demanded a reconstruction, reform and care be paid to this key part of Egypt . More focus should be paid to Bedouins there.
Khalifa said that several MPs specially MPs for Ismailia have participated in attempts at solving crises in Sinai in general and they lodged several urgent statements concerning this topic. However, the MPs should have a bigger role in this issue."

Khalifa added that:" Every action has a reaction. That’s to say, the more care and services that the government gives to the Bedouins, the closer and more loyal they will become. The method of detentions and harassments is futile and will make some of the ill-intentioned Bedouins increase their treatment with the occupation forcrs in Palestine . The government should treat its citizens well and solve their problems to increase their loyalty to their homeland."
