Sawaseya Center for Human Rights and Combating Discrimination has denounced the punishment of high school student Ahmad Mohamed Hassan for criticizing the president.
  
In a press release, Sawaseya stated that the student’s anger is “justifiable” and deserves no penalty.
Hassan wrote the phrase “Tyrant ruler and tyrannized people” in protest against two things: the difficulty of the Arabic Language exam and asking the students to pay money for hosting the exam supervisors. Because he did not have money to pay, he did not receive good treatment by supervisors like his colleagues.
The statement says that though such phrases were written in wrong time and place, they are repeatedly used by many people to express anger or for the sake of humor.
    
Sawaseya said the student’s mistake does not require the violations practiced by the education administration to deprive him of completing the rest of exams as well as keeping him in custody at the state security office for four hours. This is against the educational rules. They should maintain the students" right of expression respected by law and constitution.
    
The Human Rights center expressed solidarity with the student’s mother. She works as vegetables seller, she calls upon President Mubarak to forgive the student as he did with Aalaa Farag, when the PA speaker rebuked the education administration at al-Daqahlya governorate for its decision to make her fail a course because she criticized the government, deeming this step as “unethical.”
