Muslim Brotherhood Chairman Mohamed Mahdi Akef stressed the importance of ending the bloody forced and abnormal conflicts between the Muslim people on the one hand and the Arab and Muslim governments on the other. Akef explained that the Arab and Muslim governments are taking paths that deviate from their religion, while people are maintaining their Islamic orientations and refuse but to firmly hold on to their creed. The regimes have neither succeeded in dragging their people away from Islam or even in utilizing the great potential inside them, which is their strong faith.
He further called on people to take part in world leadership and decision-making, while he urged the rulers to return to their religion for the sake of ending the bloody conflicts between them and their people. Akef congratulated the Muslim nation on the approach of Eid Al-Fitr (feast in which Muslims celebrate the end of fast during the month of Ramadan), especially the Muslim detainees all around the world in general, and in the prisons of occupied Palestine and Iraq, Guantanamo, Egypt, Pakistan, and Somalia, in particular. "To them we say: Be patient with the life of prison for it is our means to realize our aim and know that the tyrants have lost hope and are certain that prisons give you more strength and steadfastness, and that they draw more support for you from free people around the world. All now are calling for an end to this mockery which will not extend the life of falsity nor be able to silence the truth. Nor will it prevent the light of Islam from shining over the world with its mercy, justice, and equity between all."
