The European campaign to lift the siege announced that it will organize the largest parliamentary visit to the besieged Gaza Strip next November with the participation of multinational lawmakers as part of its activities to break the siege imposed on the Strip since more than three years. Dr. Arafat Abu Madi, the head of the campaign, stated that the lawmakers who have been invited to participate in this group visit are from Europe, north Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, adding that this visit is supposed to be made through the Rafah border crossing. Dr. Abu Madi pointed out that the lawmakers will visit health and educational sectors in order to be closely familiar with the impact of the Israeli siege on the lives of Gaza people, adding that the lawmakers will report to their countries about the suffering of the people there with the aim of pressuring their governments and holding them accountable for their role in lifting the blockade. The head of the campaign noted that there are positive reactions from European and Arab lawmakers and great encouragement to do this step which will be the first of its kind. |
