Al Fayoum Criminal Court decided in its meeting held today, Saturday, Nov. 8 to postpone the trial of the adjutant of Al Fayoum police station "Officer Moataz Abdul Mongi Abdul Moneim" in the case where he was accused of killing the citizen "Gomaa Al Dahshori" by torturing him within Al Fayoum police station, the court decided to postpone the sentence to the first of December, the next.

The judge asked the defense of the victim at the beginning of the meeting, to focus on the elements of the civil lawsuit only and not to deal with the causes of the criminal accusation of the officer. The victim"s lawyers revealed in their pleading that the officer admitted before the court that he had arrested the victim "Gomaa Al Dahshori", at the same time two records with different dates have been written, which led to a contradictory in the facts included in the records, as one of the two records mentioned that "Gomaa Al Dahshori" died out as a result of being assaulted in the police station, and the other record mentioned that he died out after his falling on the stairs.

Al Dahshori"s defense confirmed that he died out of being tortured in the police station, according to the correct record, and according to the forensic doctor who assured before the court that Gomaa died out as a result of injuries of assault and battery, not as a result of his falling on the stairs.

The defense added that the prosecution has failed to fulfill its role in the investigation, which led to the loss of the victim"s right to prove and reveal those who had assaulted him, as when the prosecution was informed about the incident it did not move to record the testimony of the victim "Gomaa Al Dahshori" before his death.

The judge asked the accused officer who responded, from inside the cage, on the charges against him. The officer decided that he had arrested Al Dahshori, but he did not assault him; while the officer"s defense stressed that there is no causal link between assaulting the victim and his death, adding that the officer had arrested Gomaa for a logical reason which is that Gomaa had escaped from the arrest.
