In his statement to Ikhwanweb, Member of the MB Parliamentary Bloc MP Dr. Mohamed Fadl warned against the trend towards canceling the social allowance in Egypt affirming that it would increase the suffering of Egyptian people which he described as economically “grinding” and cautioned the government against pushing society into chaos through these decisions which he described as “irresponsible.”

Fadl called on the government to take into consideration the economic conditions of the Egyptian people especially under the global financial crisis and warned the government from going too far in its “illusionary” projects under any excuse and held the government responsible for any chaos that may result from its ill-informed decisions.  Fadl further accused the government of failing to represent the people and contributing to their suffering as its isolation from the people is proven day after day and called on it to withdraw any intention of canceling the social allowance.

Press sources had affirmed the presence of a government trend towards canceling the social allowance and the investment of that money in infrastructures to create new job opportunities according to a press statement by the Minister of Finance Botros Ghali.
The issue of social allowance was raised following the government’s decision to withdraw subsidies from petroleum products, a matter which signals grave economic consequences, according to economic experts, which the Egyptian citizen will be bearing the costs of.
