Yemen: Seventh Int'l Conference on Islamic moderation begins

Scholars, thinkers, and academics from Yemen , Sudan , Morocco , Egypt , Syria , Bahrain , Jordan and Germany met on Wednesday May 19, in the seventh International Conference for Moderation in Islam in Sana'a.
The two-day conference was organized by the Global Forum for Moderation in cooperation with the Ministry of Religious Endowment and Islamic Affairs under the motto" Islamic Moderation: concept, challenges and roles".

The Minister of Religious Endowment and Islamic Affairs Hamoud al-Hitar, al-Hiral acknowledged that Yemen was a country of broadmindedness and coexistence despite allegations by media. He added that it has and always will be the country of moderation.

Al-Hiral stressed that the media has exaggerated with issues such as Qaeda in Yemen and its affairs claiming that the media resorts to exaggeration for political gains of a numbered few.

The Minister maintained that Islamic brotherhood, unity and solidarity is evident in the way   Yemen deals with all Muslims, stating that they do not conform to suppression or tyrannical measures with others since this would  serve no individual. In fact "Moderate Islam condemns indiscriminate violence which targets innocent civilians"
