Counselor Hesham Genena, vice-chairman of the Court of Cassation and former Secretary-General of the Judges Club has announced his intentions of running again for the presidency of the club.

The Judges’ Club was formerly chaired by Counselor Ahmed El-Zend after being chaired seven years by the “independent Trend”.

Genena is leading an extensive campaign holding many meetings both inside and outside the club. He has also began visiting different club branches in Mansoura and Bani Souef in an attempt to win the elections after the “independents" had lost in the last elections in 2009.

According to sources discontent surrounds the judges prompting them to call on Genena to “save the club from what they described as the control of Counselor Ahmed El-Zend and his colleagues.

Genena stressed that his main concern was over the third elections to take place inside the club asserting that the “independent” will stick to its values and principles and will not change its ideology in the upcoming elections.

In the 2008 elections, Genena lost to El-Zend with a 300 vote difference.
