Director of the Arab Network for Human Rights Information Gamal Eid cautioned the limitations forced on opposition candidates in Egypt. Additional though unjust rights were granted by the Egyptian government to the interior ministry ahead of the November 28 polls.
 
The rights activist also condemned the regulatory restrictions imposed on independent candidates belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood and dissidents who split from the ruling National Democratic Party.
 
Opposition groups have expressed concern about the government's growing crackdown on MB members, where Egyptian security forces have warned and harassed the group against contesting the elections.

Related, the escalating events in the country, has prompted the former IAEA chief Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei to describe Cairo as unable to retain its increasingly 'authoritarian' rule where he was quoted saying

“The more unpopular this regime becomes, the more it realizes how much it is hated, the most authoritarian it becomes," stressing that it would not remain so for long since change will come".
