Dr. Mohammed Badie, Chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), affirmed that the blind and cowardly crime on the Qedesinne Church in Alexandria was not only an attack against Christians and Copts but an attack on Egypt's sanctity, security, stability and Egypt's national unity
In his weekly message titled "One nation in the face of sedition", Badie stressed that the recognition of the foreign elements' hostile role in igniting sectarian strife should not divert us from recognizing that these mercenaries use deteriorating living conditions and political circumstances resulting from the climate of corruption and continued oppression of the Egyptian citizens for more than a quarter of a century, to achieve their thwarted objectives.
He also maintained that Islam, like all divine religions, calls for love, peace, tolerance, peaceful coexistence, fraternity and dignity for all and explicitly rejects violence, seeds of hatred and discord among human beings.
He ascertained that it would be a grave mistake to imagine that the individuals involved in committing this heinous crime that damaged the Saints Church and a neighboring mosque which claimed both Muslim and Christian lives as a believer. He added that the perpetrators behind the Alexandria church bombing that killed 23 and injured dozens should be treated and tried as criminals working for the benefit of foreign elements seeking to subvert Egypt's national security and ignite sectarian sedition.
Badie stressed "We must bear in mind that these crimes are plotted by the nation's enemies in order to incite sedition within the state, as recognized by former head of Israel's intelligence service, in order to target the nation's unity and region, divide its states into smaller units and ignite religious, ethnic and sectarian conflicts in many parts of the Arab/Muslim world, as is the case in Iraq, Somalia, southern Sudan, Darfur, Yemen, Lebanon, Nigeria, and other Arab and African countries.
He ended his message emphasizing that it is incumbent upon the leaders to strive hard and exert efforts to maintain the nation's unity and immunize it against all attempts to put national security at risk.
