Former Finance Minister called in for wasting public funds

Egypt's Public prosecutor Abdel Magid Mahmoud agreed to refer two former ministers Dr. Yousef Boutros Ghali, former Minister of Finance who skipped Egypt for Beirut; Anas el-Feki, former Minister of Information, and engineer Osama El-Sheikh, former head of the Egypt Radio and TV Union (ERTU), to a criminal court, on accusations of profiteering and squandering $70 million of public funds.
 
Al-Feki was accused of approving LE 10 million budget for the benefit of the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) and wasting LE 2 million in public funds on the 34th Cairo International Film Festival managed by a company of former President Hosni Mubarak's secretary Gamal Abdel Aziz's nephew .
 
El-Sheikh was accused of wasting LE 3 million on TV series as he paid amounts exceeding the actual cost and earned twice wages of broadcasters from the Information Ministry and contracted with a company owned to him and assigned to conduct affairs of TV channels and studios where amounts over the market were value paid.
