An opinion poll of the American public revealed that 75% of Americans support the current democratic transformations in the Arab world as opposed to 84% two years earlier.

The poll showed a remarkable improvement to the image Americans have of the Egyptian people following the Egyptian People’s Revolution which began January 25, 2011.

Seventy percent of the people expressed admiration for the Egyptian people, while 65% expressed admiration for other Arab peoples. According to 51% of those who participated in the poll the revolutions in the Arabic region are driven by Islamic forces which are seeking power while 73% said they considered it an equal balance between the desire of Islamists to gain power and the desire of the peoples for freedom and democracy.

The opinions of the Americans reflected their acknowledgement of the Islamic factor and its impact and ability to bring change in the long term.
