Numerous points were covered following the latest statement by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) which was aired on state TV. Assistant Minister of Defense and SCAF member, General Mohsen El-Fangary, pointed out that each and every citizen was entitled to freedom of speech within the framework of the law. He assured the public that the SCAF is committed to its plan for the transitional period, which includes holding the People’s Assembly and Shoura Council elections, electing the president and handing over power to the civilian elected authority. He added that the SCAF will continue to support the Cabinet head as stipulated in the Constitution and that the SCAF will also enforce the rule of law when referring crimes to the concerned judiciary.

El-Fangary maintained that the policy of dialogue - with all political parties and forces - as well as the youth of the revolution will continue as before. He asserted that a document containing the governing principles and controls for selecting the foundational association for preparing a new constitution for the country and issuing it in a constitutional declaration after the approval of the political forces and parties, is currently being prepared. He maintained that SCAF acknowledges that hazards facing the nations are a result of some demonstrations, steering the protests away from a peaceful attitude which consequently leads to jeopardizing the interests of Egypt and its citizens.

Circulating rumors and false news that leads to divisions and igniting conflicts, he said, also leads to these hazards in addition to serving personal narrow-vision interests at the expense of the higher interests of the country. On this note, he cited that SCAF calls on citizens to stand against all the manifestations that disrupt the resumption of the normal life of citizens.
