Khaled Hamza, General Coordinator of the Arab Support Forum (ASF), confirmed the cancellation of the legal suspension on lawsuit filed by the ASF against the Egyptian military (SCAF) for the recognition of the Syrian National Council (SNC), and in which the judiciary of the State Council declared that there was no legal representative for the Syrian revolution at the time the case was considered.
In a statement, the General Coordinator of the ASF emphasised the emergence of the Syrian National Council as a representative that won the confidence of the Syrian interior as well as recognition by the Transitional Council of Libya and the Democratic Alliance of Egypt – which will help the judiciary re-consider the case.
Khaled Hamza mentioned that the judiciary of the State Council will also consider another lawsuit in which the ASF requested the authorities to stop the transmission of Syrian satellite channels in a court session to be held on October 27.
The lawsuit in question was filed against the Minister of Information and the President of the General Authority for Investment as well as the Chairman of the Free Media Zone, because of the vicious attacks on the Syrian Revolution by the government of Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian media, the questioning of the loyalty and patriotism of Syrian protesters, and the accusations levelled at them of being foreign agents, totally contrary to clear facts – just for those protesters’ dreams of freedom, and because of the regime’s terror campaigns against the Syrian rebels, which is called the psychological media war to stop the Syrian Revolution.
The ASF called for the defendants to be compelled to immediately stop all Syrian satellite channel broadcasts, and also to stop licensing Syria channels altogether.
Khalid Hamza also said that the ASF will continue to advocate for the rights and aspirations of Arab peoples, and will use all peaceful and legal means to face repressive regime terrorism and media which seek to obliterate the truth and annihilate human rights. |
