Poll: 90.4% of participants say Hamas should not recognize Israel

A huge majority of participants in a poll conducted by the Palestinian Information Center (Arabic) said that Hamas should not recognize Israel as a price for forming a national unity government. 6712 of the participants said that Hamas should not recognize Israel while 641 (8.6%) said it should recognize Israel in return for forming a national unity government while only 66 people (less than 1%) were undecided. The poll was conducted between 28 September 2006 and 5 October 2006 where 7419 people participated. This result comes at a time when Mahmoud Abbas is insisting on conditions he set for forming a national unity government, most important of these conditions is the recognizing the occupation. |
