The South Cairo Criminal Court on Sunday June 18, 2006  adjourned the trial of four journalists till September 16th, amid  a massive public and media presence as well as chantings calling for freedom and release of detainees and lashing out at the regime. The  four journalists, including a member of the Bar Association, are being tried on charges of publishing reports exposing rigging the past parliamentary elections.

Following the adjournment of the trial, law professor and defense lawyer Dr. Mahmoud el Sakka said that " the adjournment works for us not for the government", adding that he read the reports on this incident accurately but he found that it is not incriminated in any of the penal law items, nor does it fall under the punishable political crimes, citing the absence of any personal hostility between the defendants and the plaintiff. He also pointed out that the plaintiff failed to prove the presence of any criminal intention on the part of the defendants, hailing the defendants for being concerned about the public interest, and considering referring them to trial is a political stupidity on the part of the authorities.

For his part, Gamal Tag of the Bar Association, and one of the defendants, said in an exclusive statement to Ikhwanweb "It is not a question of name of judges rigging election insomuch as one of freedom of the nation and rights of the people" considering this trial as a reprisal rather than a political one, and affirming that rigging the election is something known to all in an attempt on some  to silence our voices, but we will not retract from exposing election rigging and seeking to get our rights .
Tag also said that this case carries surprises of heavy caliber related to documents and witnesses , as well as the honorable judges who witnessed rigging in the past parliamentary election.
