The Muslim Brotherhood Parliamentary Bloc said that the re- detaining of Dr Hassan el Hayawan the professor at Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University, in spite of a court ruling releasing him, is but a settlement of political accounts with the Ikhwan. In its statement released Saturday June 17th 2006, the Bloc said it was stunned by this news, adding that the incumbent agencies were supposed to apologize to Dr. Al Hayawan for this period he spent in prison without charges, along with due material and moral damages. But instead, the security men detained the professor while he was getting himself ready for release from prison. The Bloc sees that this act came in violation of law and constitution, as well as public freedoms, calling on the authorities to quickly release the professor and other detainees either those belong to the Ikhwan or other political spectra. It also called on the incumbent authorities to reconsider their position as regards the political reform in general and that of the political detainees in particular, asking the civil society and human rights organizations as well as the media to expose this political and legal scandal committed by the security agencies.
