More than 5,000 Muslims in Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country, participated in the rally organized by the influential KISPA (the Indonesian committee for solidarity with Palestine) bloc that groups more than 13 Indonesian organizations supporting the Palestinian issue in the heart of the capital, Jakarta. The massive gatherings hailed the recent crushing victory obtained by the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, in the recently concluded legislative elections. Indonesian legislators, including Jazouli Jouini, intellectuals, and dignitaries attended the rally and delivered a number of speeches where they highlighted the Indonesian people and government’s support to the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state. For his part, Ferry Noor, secretary-general of KISPA praised Hamas for the well done job, stressing that Muslims around the world must rally behind it. He, further, condemned the Israeli malicious plans against the Aqsa Mosque, elaborating that the so-called Third Temple was an illusion rather than a fact. The rally was held in commemoration of the new Hijra year (Migration made by Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, from Makka to Madina in the early stage of Islam). In the occupied city of Jerusalem, the PA Awkaf department commemorated the occasion as it organized a rally at the Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem where a number of sermons were held, focusing on the significance of the Hijra as a crucial point that led to founding the first Islamic state on earth. |
