Cairo Airport security authorities refused to give a permission to Ahmed Seif el Islam Al Banna and his sisters, Dr. Istishhad and Miss Sanaa, to travel to Jordan to attend the rally held there to mark the centenary anniversary of their father, Hassan el Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood group. The authorities declined to state reasons for this decision.

The first round of the Trade Union election has come  to a close and MB candidates garnered 70 seats nationwide, including two female workers one in Sharqeya and the other in Daqahleya, both are in north of Egypt, declared MB Member of Parliament and Coordinator of the MB Trade Union elections, Saber Abul Fotouh.

Egyptian security authorities banned senior MB leader and prominent economist, Dr. Abdul Hamid el Ghazali, from traveling to Beirut to attend the Fifth Arab General Conference scheduled to be held on Monday under the slogan "Support for Lebanese Resistance and its Glorious Victory".

Revisiting its unjust and repressive policies towards Muslim Brotherhood members, the Egyptian authorities prevented two senior members of the Muslim Brotherhood from travelling to Jordan to attend a rally on Thursday to commemorate centenary anniversary of Hassan Al Banna-founder of the Muslim Brotherhood- which was organized by the Muslim Brotherhood chapter in Jordan.

In defiance of the repressive measures taken by security agencies and other government bodies meddling with the election process in the student union election, students in the Egyptian universities decided, days ago, to launch a student union of their own to be a substitute for the government–controlled one in which students won unopposed after the security agencies meddled with the election process and struck off hundreds of students from the election lists.

Parliamentary and municipal election kick started on Sunday November 19,2006, as more than 30 parties are contesting to elect 95 candidates for parliament membership as well as 216 municipal councils. It is the first elections since the military junta seized power after a coup which overthrew former President Maaoya Sid’Ahmed Ould Taya, in August 2005.

Attended by a large number of students, the council of the Free Student Union at Mansoura University, north of Egypt, was formed, on Saturday November 18, 2006. 8 students from 14 faculties contested for secretary general, his assistant and six committees within the council which will represent the Free Student Union.

The Lawyers’ Syndicate hosted, on November 21, 2006, students from 12 universities all over Egypt, where the Free Student Union election was held earlier this month. The Syndicate witnessed the last phase of the Free Student Union elections, choosing a national Union’s Secretary-General and his aides from among the winning students who attended the election event.

The Muslim Brotherhood parliamentary bloc met on Wednesday November 22, 2006, with a European Union (EU) parliament delegation at the bloc’s headquarters at Manial el Roda, Cairo.

The State Security apparatus carried out a sudden crackdown on some areas of Menoufia, including cities of Sadat and Tala, and villages of Sansafd and Ramlat al Anjab; a large group of individuals belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood and their smpathizers were arrested and held in the state security headquarters.

The Egyptian Parliament will discuss, in its upcoming meetings, an urgent report submitted by the MB Parliamentary Bloc to the Minister of Higher Education after the chairman of Beni Suef University, south of Cairo, referred three teaching staff members to a disciplinary panel on charges of overseeing the Free Student Union election.
